This time the young wolf didn't try to stop him, but she turned and walked beside him, silent for the time being as she reflected upon her own past and wondered about his.
"Many of us have ghosts from our past that continue to haunt us even after we've escaped them," Almira said after a while. "We carry them with us -in our minds, and in our hearts- wherever we go. The burden can grow heavy. But you have to learn to let go of past demons. And to take help, advice, and companionship when it's offered," she added.
She paused, gazing up at the rising moon. Stopping in the middle of the mountain path, she gazed into his vivid green eyes. "Your future is in your control, Apollo. Remember that."

He hesitated, listening to her speak. She was pressing, annoying, even, but she seemed to understand bad pasts. Could he tell her? Would she possibly understand?
"My demons are not past, but are staring me in the eyes as we speak," he replied in soft tones, the same, quiet yet deep baritone of voices. He stopped, sitting and tilting his head to the moon, closing his eyes briefly, wearily.
"When you were born into what I was, there is no changing your destiny." He sighed. "What I am about to tell you, I ask that you please do not repeat. Only the alphess knows."

All traces of her playful mood now gone, Almira sat and looked intently and the dark male. "I'm listening," she said softly. "And I won't repeat it, if you don't wish me to."

Apollo nodded, lookijng to the sky, as if someone were watching him that he didn't wish to.
"My mother was a lone fae, up until she got pregnant with me. She was raped, by a mysterious, dark male. She didn't remember much about it. I never knew who my father was until just before Mother died. He had visited me in dreams, as he still does. I am a God-child, the son of a mortal wolf and a god, one of the worst gods out there; the god Chaos. He is evil.. so evil, and he haunts my every thought. He wants me to join him, to go to his side, but I will never do so. No matter what I do, he will never let me be happy, he will never let me live a good life. The last two packs I was in were killed, killed by him. He has already visited me in a dream, just last night, threatening to kil lyou all." He looked to the ground. "So, you see.." he looked up into her eyes. "I cannot be happy, and I can never belong in a pack. I could never put someone I cared about in that position.." he trailed off, ememrald eyes haunted once more with demons.

Almira listened intendly to his story, ignoring the part of her that scoffed at the idea of gods. The very idea was new to her, as the pack she had been born into never mentioned these seemingly all-powerful beings. She still didn't fully understand the concept, but she had the basic idea.
"We all die eventually, Apollo," she said softly. "The way we go, and when we go, is in the hands of fate. We could die tomorow, and you can't live your life in fear." Continueing quickly before he could object, she said "For ourselves, or for the people we care about." She was silent for a moment, mulling over what he had said. Thinking about what had said the night before, she glanced at the wounds on his muzzle and recalled him speaking with the alpha, stopping when she arrived. "Zenny knows, doesn't she?" the fae asked, locking onto his emerald eyes with her own amber orbs.

He nodded silently. "Yes, she does. She welcomes me here, but even as you said.." he shook his head, trailing off.
"We all die eventually, but I'm not cutting off another's life just so that I can have a chance to be happy," he replied simply. He longed to just say okay, to stay here. But in his heart he knew that if he did, certain doom may very well befall them.

Almira sighed, wishing that she could convince him to stay. "If the wolves around you know of the danger they're in, I see no reason that you can't take your chance to be happy. Everyone deserves some happinesss in their lives," she said ernestly, looking into his eyes. "The alphess has welcomed you, in spite of your past and unusual beginings. Just know that there are some who would miss you if you left," she said softly. Turning, she started back, brushing against him as she passed.

They would miss him? They would miss him if he left? Maybe she was right, happiness didn't come around often.
He let out a deep sigh, and looked up to the heavens. He would have to think on it.
